Smashbox Light It Up 3 Palette Set - Review and Swatches

I have tried primer and setting spray from Smashbox before which are quite famous but never got the chance to try their makeup. When i got the opportunity to order from Sephora with MyMallBox, i spotted this limited edition box from Smashbox which contain their best selling products and for the price i couldn't resist this chance. It was $29 and if you haven't tried any makeup from this brand this set is perfect starter. It was part of the Smashbox's Light It Up Holiday Collection for 2016 in collaboration with Meryl Pataky, a San Francisco-based neon artist which explains this neon packaging. So lets get in details.

My Thoughts
First of all the packaging is amazing, this palettes comes in neon red transparent plastic box which is sturdy and gives the impression of glass. The small palettes also have this neon plastic lid on top of the black plastic packaging. The palettes are small almost the size of palm and strong closure making them perfect to carry around in bag. The three palettes for lips, eyes and contour have their best selling products including be legendary lipsticks, photo op eyeshadows and step by step contour. Lets talk about these palettes separately.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick Palette
This palette contains 6 Smashbox Be Legendry lipsticks which are priced $21 individually. These lipsticks have different formula and finish including matte, pearl and glossy. The matte and pearl have very good pigmentation and texture which is smooth and creamy giving even application while glossy texture have bit sheer formula and uneven texture. The lasting power for these lipstick is upto 5 hours depending on formula and usage.

Congnac defined is warm medium brown shade with pearl finish having very good pigmentation and creamy formula. Pretty Social defined nude rose is a pale pink shade with glossy finish having semi opaque pigmentation. Inspiration is cool tone bright fuchsia pink shade with pearl finish having very good pigmentation and lasting power. First time is a brown-coral shade with neutral undetones and matte shade having very good pigmentation and texture. Jam on it is cool tone deep raspberry shade with semi matte finish having very good pigmentation. Bing defined as classic red is a true red shade with semi matte finish having very good pigmentation and texture.

Smashbox Photo OP Eyeshadow Palette
This palette contains 6 eyeshadows including 3 matte and 3 shimmery formula. These shades are from their Photo Op collection which you can buy individually in price $18 for one. That makes this palette quite convenient as you can try 6 shades in very less price but with same formula. All the shades are different and perfect for everyday to glamorous look. The formula is quite good with soft, blendable texture. Shimmery shades however are on bit powdery side but the overall pigmentation is very good.

Vanilla is warm ivory shade with matte finish. Flamingo is medium shimmery warm coral pink with gold shimmer. Russet is a medium bronze shade with frost finish. Totally Nude is a medium warm mauve shade with matte finish. Amethyst is a medium purple shade with gold shimmer which is bit chunky and behave like a glitter so it can fly away without glitter primer. Dark cocoa is very dark brown almost black shade with very good pigmentation.

Smashbox Step by Step Contour Palette
This palette is a mini version of Smashbox famous Step by Step contour palette which is priced $45. It includes three products contour, bronze and highlighting powder. The texture of all 3 is buttery soft and easy to apply. The pigmentation of them is also very good where you need little product to apply and it blends effortlessly. 

The contour powder is cool tone grey-brown shade which is perfect for creating shadows for contouring. The bronze powder is warm brown shade to be used for warming your skin tone. Highlight powder is very light warm yellow color which is used for highlighting or baking your makeup. The shade is lighter then Kryolan translucent yellow powder and it can perfectly be used for under eye setting and setting the foundation. The texture, pigmentation and blending for all three products are very good.
 
Overall I loved this set and i am glad i got it while it lasted. As the formula for all products are exact same as their individual products, this set provide the opportunity to try all those expansive products in just $29.
