10 Essential Skin Care to Slow Down Aging
The shelves of beauty departments are heaving with anti-ageing items, all with tempting claims. Always look out for the ingredients and do research about which can work for you. Also don't go for cheap products, they can either be useless for doing what they claim or even worse can harm your skin. Before you splash out, here’s what forms the foundation of a top beauty regime to slow down aging and not getting those lines as long as possible. We also share some top recommendations from which you can choose according to your skin type and issues.

1. Cream Cleanser
Forget lather, think hydration. To leave your skin super-silky, choose plant-based products loaded with natural and nourishing extracts such as coconut oil, almond oil, hemp oil and shea butter. If your skin is oily, go for anything that contains non-astringent natural foaming agents and calming ingredients such as witch hazel and aloe vera.

2. Anti-Aging Moisturizers
This is the lynch pin in your regime to hold back the years. A carefully selected moisturizer can plump your skin, soften lines and increase radiance. Day creams should be loaded with antioxidant vitamins and plant oils, and unless you plan to get it elsewhere (e.g foundation or primer), they should contain broad-spectrum UV protection.

3. Night Cream
While you sleep, your body is cleverly renewing itself, so it’s the perfect time to indulge your skin with an intensive treatment. A night cream isn’t always essential. if you feel your regular moisturizer does the job perfectly well, and so long as it doesn’t contain SPF(obviously unnecessary at night), then don’t feel under pressure to change your routine. However, if you regularly wake up with dry or taut skin, think about adding a night into the mix. Cleanse your skin before applying to your face, neck and chest.

4. Eyecream
The skin around your eyes is extra-delicate, so it deserves special attention. It’s also where fine lines commonly first appear in your late 20s and early 30s. Peptides are common ingredients in anti-ageing creams, as are extracts of vitamins A, B5, C and E. Look for one with SPF for day use, and light reflective particles if you’re get dark circles. Eye creams are by their nature lighter than regular moisturizers but opt for an even silkier gel product to tauten and douse morning-after-the-night-before puffiness. They’re not always necessary but if your eye area is particularly dehydrated, try an extra-nourishing be spoke night-time cream. Always apply in a light, patting action with your ring finger to avoid stretching the skin.

5. Face Serums and Oils
The nourishing extracts, vitamins and essential fatty acids in these products are readily absorbed by the skin because of their small molecular structure. Serums are water-based and have lower oil content so are ideal for oily skin and day time use. Facial oils have a high concentration of essential oils and are perfect for night use when your skin can take an intensive hit. Look out for products containing rose hip oil for mature skins and lavender for sensitive skins. Apply to clean, slightly damp skin, massage in to stimulate circulation then after a few minutes, remove the excess.

6. Hydrating Masks
Treat your complexion to a regular mask. Overnight masks does wonders to your skin making it plump and healthy. If your skin is oily and needs a deep cleanse, kaolin clay and witch hazel are key ingredients. For a radiant pep-up, try products with extracts of brightening white or green tea and camphor. For the ultimate hydration, we recommend orange blossom, sweet almond and avocado oils.

7. Gentle Scrubs
Exfoliators, if selected carefully, can restore your healthy glow and give a feeling of ‘newness’ to your skin. Buffing particles of jojoba, rice enzymes and silica are gentle enough not to upset your delicate complexion. But if you have extra sensitive skin, try using a muslin cloth to wash away your cleanser.

8. Line Smoothers and Fillers
These are an (almost) natural alternative to cosmetic fillers. They temporarily ‘blur’ fine lines. Most feature microscopic particles of silicone and nylon, and come in pen-style applicators or in serums. Look out for lip plumpers that contain hyaluronic acid, peptides and capsicum, from chilli peppers.

9. Firming Body Creams
Of course, you can never slim down with creams, lotions and oils alone, but firming and smoothing body products can smooth your legs, bum, stomach and breasts to showoff any weight loss or exercise you’ve had. Rich body butter is ideal if you’re prone to dry skin, and we always recommend products loaded with botanical extracts.

10. Body Scrubs
It’s impossible to shift cellulite completely but, in addition to toning exercise and regular body brushing, invigorating scrubs can boost your skin’s condition to improve its appearance. They’re also great for rough, dry skin and for pre-tan prepping. Go for products based on natural oils, including olive, jojoba and almond, with stimulating extracts of essential oils, such as juniper, orange and rosemary.
