12 Styling Tips for Dressing Like Pro in Every Age
As in today's fast pacing world we more active both socially and at work than ever, we want to look our best but remember to not forget your comfort level. don't go over the latest fashions which are not appropriate for you, as they only will lower your confidence and you will feeling awkward then enjoying the movement.
1. Dress Your Age
There are defining moments in life when it’s time to take stock of your wardrobe. Once every five years, take a hard look at staple garments, shoes and boots, underwear and swimwear, jackets and going-out outfits. Ask what they say about you. Are you reliving your 20s in your party wear and your wedding night in your underwear? Do dogwalking clothes serve for dates too? Now’s the time to reinvent yourself to flatter your current age and lifestyle.
2. Seasonal Dressing
To keep your wardrobe updated, buy the catwalk edition of fashion magazines each season to see what’s in and what’s not. Not everything you see will necessarily be easy, affordable, or practical to wear, of course. Look at how perennial labels, such as Chanel and Burberry, make slight changes to freshen up a look; notice how collections designed by older women, such as Stella McCartney, Prada, Marni, and Celine, continually inspire. Make sure your wardrode doesn’t get stuck in a rut.
3. Play to Your Assets
Don’t cover up in oversized garments. Clothes that fit flatter. Make the most of your best assets: highlight great legs or well-turned ankles in flirty skirts and fabulous shoes; show off a long neck with a bobbed haircut.
4. Get Styling Advice
Book an appointment with a personal shopper at a department store or a fashion adviser at a highend chain. They will pick out garments that fit, flatter, and update your look with no obligation to buy.
5. Timeless Classics
Try clean shapes and simple silhouettes, and invest in a few timeless pieces: a classic trench coat and wrap dress, a crisp white button-up shirt, a navy and white– striped shirt, and loafers. You can wear these classic items forever, dressing them up or down, and shaking things up from time to time with head-turning jewelry and the signature accessories of the season.
6. Pick Your Palette
In daylight, stand in front of a mirror and hold your favorite garments to your face. Do the colors still suit you? If hair and skin have faded a little, you might need to adapt your palette. Rich tones might suit better than washed-out pastels; chocolate, navy, or charcoal can be kinder than black; green or khaki tones play down flushed cheeks; and creamy tones near the face reflect illuminating light upward.
7. Flower Remedy
Before doing a wardrobe clearout, take 6 drops of the Australian Bush Flower Essence Five Corners, this is a great remedy for low self-esteem, especially concerning physical appearance. Tune into your sense of self-worth.
8. Detox Your Wardrobe
If your wardrobe makes every morning a misery, it’s time to detox. Cast away anything that makes you feel fat, items that remind you of failed relationships, and impulse buys with labels still attached. Create a wardrobe containing only clothes you love (and which fit and flatter).
9. Ditch and Switch
Get together with a bunch of girlfriends to dump and swap clothes that no longer fit or suit you. Everyone empties bags of cast-offs into the center of a room, then scrabbles to find a new outfit that does suit. If more than one person hankers after the same piece, you all try it on and ask for honest (but kind) opinions about what really suits you at this stage of life.
10. Don’t Believe the Hype
Don’t stand for being told by social media what you can and can’t wear in your 40s, 50s, and beyond. It’s all about style. So of course you can continue to wear the pieces you love as you age—as long as they still make you feel confident, happy, go-getting, and visible (unless you prefer to stay out of the spotlight). That includes any of the following: • denim • leather skirts, jackets, and dresses • baseball caps—turned any way • sequins • skinny jeans • animal prints • slogan T-shirts • punk looks • red lipstick
12. Underwear Matters
Japanese studies suggest that the body works harder to keep breasts perky against gravity when we go braless. However, a well-fitting bra can offer a psychological lift. Get measured by a professional and don't wear loose or too tight bra. Also as you age it is better to find comfortable inner garments so you can relax and enjoy you day out.
