15 Best DIY Home Treatments for Amazing Skin and Hair
Buying expensive products and building your skin and hair routine is quite attractive and effective no doubt. But how about that we can do most of these treatments at home with products which are at our disposal for most of the time. They do need your time but you will have ease of mind that all these products are free of any chemicals and will not harm your skin or hair later. I am sharing 15 best home made treatments for you skin and hairs which are very effective and very easy to make and apply. If you are avoiding the chemicals from your skin or just want to stay at home and take care of your skin from things you get at home, then these recipes are perfect for you.

1. Lactic Acid Face Exfoliant
Face exfoliants have become necessary and the price have become higher as well because liquid exfoliators are better then physical ones. But you don't need to worry, we have one such chemical exfoliant easily at home. Milk contains lactic acid which is a gentle and yet effective . It can get you rid of impurities and damage to the top layer of the skin. Adding lemon juice in milk will allow the acid to penetrate in the skin for maximum results. We are using powder milk to make paste for better application but you can use milk cream as well.

  • 1 tablespoon powdered milk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon warm water
Mix all of the above ingredients to make spreadable paste which should be not too runny or thick. Now gently rub over face focusing on the points which need attention. After few minutes of massage, leave it on the skin for a minute and then rinse of with cool water. You can do this exfoliation one to two times a week.

2. Oil-Absorbing Toner
Now that summers are on their full peak, we face the problem of shiny face after makeup. This toner can be used before the application of foundation, specially if you have oily skin. It will keep the makeup intact for longer and kind of work as primer, perfect for the events when you are going to wear heavy makeup.

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon witch hazel
  • 1/4 teaspoon water
Mix all of the above ingredients in a small bowl. Now using cotton pad, swipe the toner on all over your face, focusing the points which are prone to shine like T-zone.


3. Refreshing Cucumber Toner
Talking about summers, the skin become dull and loose its glow under the sun. You need some refreshing toner for this purpose after removing all the makeup and impurities. Nothing is better then cucumber which have refreshing and gentle astringent properties which is perfect for whole face but specially for eye area.

  • 1/2 small to medium cucumber cubes
  • 2 tablespoons witch hazel

Blend cucumber in food processor or blender. Strain the juice and mix it with witch hazel. You refreshing toner is ready. Now using cotton pad of ball, apply the toner on whole face while patting over eye area.

4. Crow’s Feet Treatment
The eye creams are very important to keep your eye area fresh and from loosing its elasticity due to makeup, harsh environment and from using digital devices. You can make the best and very effective eye cream at home with simple ingredients.

Vitamin A gently treats wrinkling around the eye while
aloe vera allows for penetrating absorption.
  • 1 vitamin A capsule
  • 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel
Mix well both ingredients with fork in small bowl. Once incorporated, apply the mixture around the eye area with ring or pinky finger. It can be your night eye cream which can be followed up with moisturizer.


5. Face Puffiness Reducer
On those mornings that you need to depuff your eyes or your entire face, use this blend. The rose water tightens pores, while the
chamomile tea reduces inflammation. The cold spoons calm down the puffiness.
  • 1 cup chamomile tea, brewed with two tea bags
  • 1/4 cup rose water
  • Small bowl filled with ice water
Once the tea is prepared, add rose water, once it is cooled down. Now dip cotton balls into mixture and dab generously over puffy areas. Dip spoon into ice water and press metal over puffiness.


6. Basil Glow
Basil also know as Tulsi and Niazbo is a wonderful herb for stimulating circulation and leaving skin absolutely glowing. YOu can easily make the basil glow spray at home.
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh basil or 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1 cup boiling water
Add basil leaves in boiling water and keep them in until the water is cooled down. Now pour this liquid into spritzer bottle and lightly spray over face. Allow the face to air dry.

7. Cuticle Softener
This recipe will soften and condition the cuticle area. Resist the urge to use scissors.
  • 2 tablespoons castor oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
Add both castor oil and vegetable shortening in a microwave-safe container. Cook on high for 20 seconds. Stir together and test to see that liquid is comfortable, yet warm to the touch. 8. Make Your Own Body Powder
This is a light, talc-free powder that feels wonderfully natural. Although this recipe traditionally uses almond extract, lemon or orange extract is just as good.
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons rice flour
  • 5 to 6 drops pure almond extract
Combine the cornstarch and flour in a jar. Gradually add the almond extract. Apply to body with a powder puff or large brush. You can try face glow powder recipe as well.


9. Tension De-Stress Bath
The warm scent of the almond oil relaxes the mind while the sesame oil and cinnamon soothe both skin and muscles.
  • 1/2 cup sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon almond oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Mix all the ingredients in a jar with a fork and let stand for one hour. Strain through paper towel or strainer. Massage feet, hands, and any sore muscles.

10. Acne Relief Body Treatment
  • 1 teaspoon geranium oil
  • 1 teaspoon white iodine
  • 1 teaspoon Epsom salts
Mix all of the ingredients together in a small bowl. With a cotton swab, apply it on all sorts of acne including back acne, chest acne, and underarm acne. Leave the mixture on for ten minutes, then wipe off with a warm, wet washcloth.

11. Salt Body Scrub
One of the most popular spa treatments is the salt scrub. It’s a wonderful method of skin exfoliation and also stimulates body circulation to release toxins.
  • 2 cups sea salt
  • 1 cup olive oil
Combine the salt and olive oil in a jar making it into a paste. Rub on dry skin avoiding the neck and face. After few minutes of massage take shower.


12. Moisturizing Jojoba Shampoo
Jojoba oil has similar properties to our hair’s natural oils. This enables it to help replenish the oils necessary for the
health and shine of your hair.
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/3 cup regular shampoo
  • 1 tablespoon Jojoba oil
Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and use daily as a regular shampoo.

13. Aspirin Scalp Treatment
Scalp build up can occur due to many reasons and if it is not cleaned thoroughly, the hairs become oil, dull or weaken. Also it can be cause of dandruff. This recipe can get rid of dandruff and product buildup.
  • 1 cup very hot water
  • 30 uncoated aspirin tablets
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
Dissolve aspirin in hot water. Add baking soda and then allow to the mixture to cool until it’s slightly warm. Apply to clean wet hair, concentrating on scalp. Leave for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.


14. Paraffin Wax Treatment
The most exclusive spas charge top dollar for this footsoftening paraffin wax treatment. Note: If you have trouble finding paraffin wax, you can substitute old candles.
  • 4 bars of paraffin wax
  • 1 bottle of rich moisturizer
Melt the paraffin wax in a microwave. Pre-moisturize feet and legs for protection. Dip one foot into warm paraffin 3 times, pausing
between layers to allow them to dry. Wrap each foot with plastic wrap tight enough to make an airtight seal. This will help the moisturizer to penetrate. Let set for 20 minutes. Remove wrap and peel off the wax. Rinse off with a coarse washcloth.

15. All-Day Lip Stain
This is a perfect lip stain which is long lasting and is very easy to make. Following the trend you can use this stain on cheeks as well.
  • 1 cherry or raspberry Jelly packet
  • 1 teaspoon petroleum jelly
Melt petroleum jelly in microwave. Mix in the contents of jelly packet. Blend thoroughly and allow to cool. Apply with a lipstick brush.
